A helper and a driver of Greatwall retail establishment were arrested by the police for allegedly smuggling groceries worth P79,196.50 and delivered them to a store in Barangay Malatgao, Narra on Thursday afternoon.

Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO) Station 1 commander P/Maj. Lorence Battaler identified them as Alexander T. Engcoy, 49, a resident of Brgy. Mangingisda, and Rolly C. Bundac, 27, a resident of Brgy. San Miguel.

The victim, on the other hand, was identified as Anita Cheng, represented by Oliver Reynoso Lim.

Based on police investigation, about 1 p.m. on August 28, the suspects loaded the grocery items in a delivery van and brought it to FC Kyle Store in Malatgao.

Cheng ssid she discovered their illegal activity when she checked the CCTV in their warehouse of the morning of August 29.

Bataller said that they have recovered the goods in the store where they were delivered.

“Na-recover naman natin sa tindahan kung saan nila dinala sa Malatgao, Narra. Doon nila na-deliver, na-recover natin, at nandito at nagbigay naman ng salaysay ‘yong may-ari ng tindahan na sila ay nagtataka din kung bakit nagbababa ng mga products ‘yong delivery boy na wala namang resibo,” he said.

When investigated, the owner of FC Kyle Store said they were also surprised why the suspects would bring them the goods without delivery receipts.
