The Coast Guard District Palawan (CGDP) said the Holy Week celebration in Palawan was “generally peaceful” with no untoward incident recorded at sea.

Lieutenant Commander Christian S. Jazmin, CGDP spokesperson, said no accident and no drowning incident was reported anywhere at sea in the province during the Holy Week, which started on April 18.

“Walang reported na aksidente sa dagat, galing kami ng Nagtabon kung saan laging may naaaksidente kadalasan. Ok naman kasi may mga life guards doon generally peaceful naman,” Jazmin said.

On April 8, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) deployed its vessels as part of efforts to heighten security in all ferry terminals and ports in the country to ensure the safety of passengers during the Holy Week.

The PCG also deployed for the purpose Special Operations Group (SOG) members, K9 units, medical teams, and other units to assure vacationers of safe and secured ports when they leave for their home municipalities and provinces.
