Palawan has been experiencing occasional heavy rains because of a strong southwest monsoon that has been trailing Typhoon Gardo, PAGASA said on Tuesday.
Local weather observer Nestor Z. Igna told Palawan News typhoon Gardo has been moving northwest towards Taiwan at a speed of around 30 kilometers per hour.
As of Tuesday morning, Gardo was plotted at 635 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes.
“May mga papasok na mga pag-ulan, mga rainshowers [pero] mawawala rin agad, pabugsu-bugso lang. Mararanasan natin ang kaunting pag-uulan, kasi na-enhance ang southwest monsoon,” he said.
PAG-ASA also warned the public of possible landslides because of the rains.
“Possible [ang landslides] kung may mga mamumuong mga pag-ulan sa mga matataas na area. Malakas din usually ang binubuhos niyan so possible,” Igna said.
