Around 72 fruit seedlings were planted in a ceremonial tree planting at the proposed Provincial Agricultural Center in Sitio Arasan, Barangay Magara, Roxas, in support of the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) “Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat Kontra COVID-19” or ALPAS COVID-19.

The Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) spearheaded the planting of aromatic coconut, giant bamboo, marang, avocado and jackfruit trees in the area on May 28.

The ALPAS COVID-19 program of the DA aims to ensure the food security of the country, particularly in times of health emergency like the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

The planting activity was participated by the local government unit of Roxas, barangay officials of barangay Magara, MATATAG PGP CARES Farmer Group, and representatives from agencies such as Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Philippine Coconut Authority, and Palawan Soils Laboratory.
