The prices of fresh flowers and floral arrangements around Puerto Princesa City have peaked during the last few days, expectedly due to a surge in demand ushered by the All Soul’s Day observance.

As most local flower shops source their flowers from either Cebu or the Dangwa flower market in Manila, local entrepreneurs said their buying prices have increased by around 20 percent from normal prices.

Roland, who operates a flower shop in front of the Loyola Cemetery, said his regular suppliers from Cebu and Dangwa had already jacked up their prices. He said he anticipates the prices to normalize after the holidays.

“Pwede na mag-stabilize yan after ng Undas. Ganoon naman presyohan, babalik na rin ýan sa dati,” he said.

Toto, who runs a shop along Rizal Avenue, said Malaysian mums are one of the most sold flowers during the All Soul’s Day. It is now sold from P40 to P50 from its regular price of P35.
