Four fishing boats and 10 crewmen were arrested for alleged fishing activity using the banned compressor in Agutaya, Palawan on May 28.
A police report by the Agutaya Municipal Police Station (MPS) said the police personnel conducted seaborne patrol in Sitio Tonul and Sitio Diit Barangay Algeciras, Agutaya, which resulted in their arrest.
The personnel of the fishing boats could not present necessary documents authorizing them to operate.
Four compressors and about 250 kilos of assorted fish were seized from their possession.
The suspects are facing charges for violating Municipal Ordinance No. 7, which bans the use of compressor in fishing within the municipal waters of Agutaya.
The fishing boats were identified as Carle skippered and owned by Regie Cuyos and Ernie Osayan; M Rose skippered by Angelito Quino ad Enriquito Casuncad; Sarah May skippered by Jay-R Padilla, Marlou Abejo Quintela, and owned by Sarah Encio Mauna, all residents of Barangay Concepcion, Agutaya, and Merlyn owned by Ludovico Mateo Salvador, with boat captain Lomar Celestino Salvador and June Celestino Salvador, who are all residents of Barangay Batbatan, Culasi, Antique.
