A fisherman was arrested for alleged possession of Illegal drugs and use of improvise explosives in Barangay Mangsee, Balabac on Monday afternoon.

The suspect was identified as Omar Adam Sahiron, a local resident.

Seized from his banca were one piece improvised dynamite (bungbong) with blasting cap attached with half liter of gasoline, one plastic water pipe more or less 15 inches, one piece pouch bag containing six heat sealed straw containing crystalline substance believed to be shabu, one piece lighter and one bolo with scabbard.

Based on the police report, Sahiron was arrested when police together with the barangay tanods were conducting a regular patrol near the mosque when they noticed one motorized banca with two unidentified persons on board.

They approached the passengers on board and recognized one of them as the suspect but his companion leaped from the banca and fled.

The confiscated illegal drugs were brought to the Palawan Crime Laboratory Office (PALPCLO) for examination.

Sahiron faces charges for violating Republic Act 9165 and Republic Act 9516.
