A farmer was declared dead on arrival in a medical facility in Barangay Tarusan, Bataraza after a drinking session led to a shooting incident Monday.

Palawan Provincial Police Office (PPO) spokesperson P/Capt. Ric Ramos said farmer Jonifer Palmero Estibes, 41, was allegedly shot by suspect Ruperto Paredes.

Initial police investigation indicated that Estibes and Paredes were having a drinking session with their friends in a house in Tarusan. After this, the victim left but Paredes shot him on the back before fleeing.

Ramos said the Bataraza police are still investigating why Paredes would shot the victim.
