Hidden Beach, one of El Nido town’s sheltered spots in Bacuit Bay, has been hailed as the most beautiful beach in Asia and third in the world this year by Canada’s biggest travel agency Flight Network.
Its selection was through a survey the tour company conducted on 1,200 respondents from various fields, including editors of known newspapers and print and online magazines, journalists, and travel bloggers.
Described to have a jagged appearance that exudes raw appeal, Hidden Beach which is part of El Nido’s Tour C in Bacuit Bay, is the only beach spot in the country that made it to Flight Network’s “World’s Top 50 Beaches” list in 2018.
Vanessa Marquez, a travel operator of Natural Arts Travel & Tours in Puerto Princesa City, said most of her clients prefer El Nido because of its 45 island gems and Instagram-worthy beach coves.
“Sa website and sa Facebook pages namin, mas hinahanap talaga ng mga kliyente at returning guests namin ang mga destinations ng El Nido. Dahil na din siguro sa mga nakikita nila sa mga blogs pati na din sa mga travel channels. Maganda din naman kasi ang ambiance and talagang malinaw ang tubig sa bawat isla, na para ka na din tumitingin sa salamin.” she stated.
Located in Matinloc Island, Hidden Beach is a favorite Tour C destination for its postcard-perfect environment complemented by protruding limestone cliffs, white sands, and turquoise sea water.
El Nido resident Sharmaine dela Cruz said Hidden Beach stands out among the rest of the beaches because it is tucked away behind hard sedimentary rocks that extend tall from the water.
“From its description, the Hidden Beach cannot be seen from the outside. It has that element of surprise that the tourists love,” she said.
She said Hidden Beach’ entrance length is approximately 100 meters wide and shallow for any motorboat. Tourists must either walk or swim in order to see the beach cove’s mystery and for some sense of adventure.
Its crystal-clear water gives tourists the soothing vibe they are looking for to get away from stress and anxiety. The beach is also safe for swimming, especially for travelers with children.
“Many of our guests said talagang natutuwa sila sa wonders ng Hidden Beach. Hindi kasi siya ordinaryong isla dito sa El Nido. Sa unang tingin, para lang siyang set ng limestones na kabilang sa iba. But as they get closer, na-su-surprise sila to see na may swimming area pala doon,” said Rocky Alis, travel operator of the El Nido Wild Adventure Travel and Tours.
He said the locals have likened the Hidden Beach to a “hard candy with a creamy surprise in the center.”
