EL NIDO, Palawan — A female high school teacher here was declared dead on arrival (DOA) in a local health clinic after her motorcycle crashed along the municipal road in Sitio Cabigsing, Barangay Buena Suerte, Tuesday afternoon.

Police authorities said victim Annalyn Laudan Pinto, 39, a teacher at the El Nido National High School (ENHS) who was supposed to celebrate her birthday today, June 24, was thrown on the pavement during the accident.

She was rushed to a nearby clinic, but the attending physician declared her DOA due to her injuries.

Initial police investigation claimed witnesses saw Pinto driving at high speed and without a helmet. She hit a structure in a water refilling station which reportedly caused her to fall heavily on the pavement.

El Nido MPS acting chief P/Maj. Bronson Carampto in an interview with Palawan News emphasized the importance of driving safely and wearing helmets.

“ Slowly but surely lalo na, madulas ang daan dahil maulan-ulan. Mag-helmet po tayo, lalo na sa mga nagmo-motor,” he said.
