EL NIDO, Palawan — Town officials here have slashed P750,000 from their travel funds to support COVID-19 frontliners.
The decision to take out the amount from their travel budget was made during a special session of the Sangguniang Bayan on April 2, said Vice Mayor Luningning Batoy.
“Kami po ay saludo at nagpapasalamat sa kanilang kasipagan, dedikasyon at kabayanihan na ipinapakita para sa ating lahat kung kaya’t naisip namin kahit sa ganitong paraan man lang tayo ay makatulong na sila ay ating mapasalamatan at ma-inspire sa kanilang mga ginagawa sa bayan,” Batoy, who authored the resolution, said to Palawan News.
The incentive will benefit around 750 volunteers from 18 barangays who are fighting in the frontlines against COVID-19.
They are barangay health workers (BHWs), barangay environment and nutrition scholars (BEANS), barangay volunteer sanitary inspectors (BVSIs), microscopists, barangay tanods, utility workers, purok/zone leaders and other volunteer frontliners who are performing round the clock duties against COVID-19 in town.
