The Small and Big lagoons in El Nido will be temporarily closed to the public as they play host to the 11th season of the two-day “Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series” set on April 12 to 13.

Rene Jay de la Calzada, the municipal administrator, said it will be the first time the tourist town will host such an international competition

He said that despite the ongoing rehabilitation, sports organizers still recognized the town as one of the best destinations in the world.

Two platforms were constructed on limestone cliffs: 20 meters for female competitors and 27 meters for the male.

A total of 24 male and female professional cliff divers from 18 countries will participate in the event.

He added that only organizers, the medical team and contributors will be allowed to enter the competition area because the event is not open for the public.

“This is not open for public viewing.

The event will be shown live on April 13 at 4.45 PM local time (8.45 AM GMT) on www.redbullcliffdiving.com, Red Bull TV, Facebook & Youtube.
