President Rodrigo Duterte is scheduled to visit Puerto Princesa City on April 4 to attend the weeklong 31st National Convention of Prosecutors’ League of the Philippines 2019.

Mayor Lucilo Bayron made the announcement about President Duterte’s visit during the regular flag raising ceremony Monday at the City Hall.

He said after attending the prosecutors’ convention, Duterte will proceed to the City Coliseum for the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-LABAN) political rally.

[Ito] ay para you can make intelligent decisions. Para makapili kayo ng maayos, makinig kayo sa sinasabi ng mga candidates,” said Bayron in his speech during the flag raising ceremony.

Bayron who belongs to the PDP-LABAN political party noted that while there is no assurance yet that the city government will be given the chance to present to Duterte, he still wants department heads to prepare presentations.

He added one of the issues the city government plans to bring to the knowledge of the president is the quarrying operations in Barangay Iwahig which was issued by a cease and desist order (CDO) by the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).

Bayron also reminded the City Engineering Office (CEO) to equip itself in advance for the request it will make to the president regarding the lot in Iwahig which the city government is eyeing to be the new city cemetery.

He reiterated the CEO through the City Legal Office (CLO) must prepare the draft of the presidential proclamation that will formally declare “around 200 hectares” of land in Iwahig as the new cemetery of Puerto Princesa.
