A fisherman who was believed to be drunk drowned in the waters off Purok Sandiwa, Brgy. Tiniguiban on Monday evening after falling from a fishing boat where he and a friend were having a drinking session.

The victim was identified as Wilson Medinilla Marapao, 36-years old, and a resident of Brgy. Caminawit, San Jose town, Occidental Mindoro.

According to an initial investigation by the Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO) Station 2, Marapao drowned around 10 p.m. on June 24.

His drinking buddy, Kerby Plasinsia Coyoca, tried to save him but to no avail. His lifeless body was retrieved around 12:15 a.m.

The owner of the boat, Delilah Escala, reported the incident to the PPCPO Station 2 around 4:30 a.m.

The body of the victim was brought to Juner’s Funeral Homes.
