Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat has committed to help Palawan gradually reopen its tourism destinations.
Provincial Information Office (PIO) chief Winston Arzaga told Palawan News in an interview Friday that Puyat met with Governor Jose Alvarez and other mayors in El Nido to come up with a strategy to reopen tourism hubs in Palawan.
“May meeting sila ngayon (July 3). Ang gagawin ni secretary is to assist the provincial government on what to do bago or kapag nakapag-open na tayo,” he said.
He said that reopening means focusing on local tourism travels
“Local lang tayo, hindi pwede na lahat,” he said.
During a previous online press briefing, Office of the Provincial Governor (OPG) chief of staff Caesar Sammy Magbanua said they are finalizing the schedule for the opening of the Lio Airport in El Nido, Francisco B. Reyes Airport in Busuanga, and the San Vicente Airport for modified commercial flights.
