SM hosts DOST 60th year celebration.

Innovation projects, enterprise upgrades featured in DOST Roadshow in Palawan

Innovation is at the heart of the many development programs of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) from agriculture to industry to health.

In this light, the DOST is now putting more resources into research and development by collaborating with different stakeholders like schools, R&D centers in the regions, other government offices, and even the private sector as support to research and innovation.

As the premiere S&T authority in the Philippines providing central direction, leadership, and coordination of all scientific and technological activities to support national development, the DOST celebrates with SM Supermalls in honoring the Department’s milestones for the past 60 years.

The DOST has been trailblazing and has constantly evolved into one of the most respected departments in the government throughout the years as it aims to break new grounds for innovation to economic progress since 1958.

Today, the DOST has been continuously moving to build dreams and create significant change for the people through science, technology, and innovation.

In SM City Puerto Princesa, a brief glimpse of the DOST’s history, commitment, technologies, and services was exhibited from Aug. 4-10, 2018 at the mall’s Lower Ground Level near the SM Appliance Center.

Through the Provincial Science and Technology Center – Palawan (PSTC – Palawan) and in partnership with SM City Puerto Princesa, the DOST celebrated its six decades of scientific journey with the first ever Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Roadshow in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Parts of the STI Roadshow are various forums like upgrading value-adding enterprise through STI, food safety awareness, science and technology scholarships, digital innovation, robotics and internet of things, RSTL testing and calibration services, and wastewater management treatment.

Moreover, Palaweño-developed products of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) assisted by the Department also shared the spotlight in the exhibit.
