The provincial office of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has set its sights on hiring on-the-spot around 15 percent of all applicants who will seek employment opportunities in the jobs fair it will conduct at the Western Philippines University (WPU) in its main campus in Aborlan.

Luis Evangelista, DOLE provincial officer, said in a press conference on Monday that they are expecting around 500 to 1,000 job applicants to come on May 1 at the WPU.

Evangelista said positions for sales associates, tourism, and skilled workers will be offered by participating establishments in the jobs fair.

Evangelista said employers are looking for best working attitude aside from the educational attainments of the applicants.

So, mahirap ma-determine kung ilan ang posibleng ma-hire agad pero we are targeting atleast 15 percent,” he pointed out.

In addition to this, Evangelista said the event will also showcase the Job Placement Office and Career Center of WPU.

Richard Rebote, provincial PESO head, said 35 local agencies and four overseas employers will be joining the jobs fair.

Rebote assured applicants from Palawan that they will be protected and will be safe if hired to work abroad.

The countries of Saudi Arabia, Macau, Hongkong, Singapore, Japan, and Malaysia usually offer overseas work, he said.
