The Department of Education (DepEd) will be giving public school teachers P1,000 as incentive benefit for the World Teacher’s Day.

“In recognition of the important role of the teachers play in nation-building. The education department seeks to faithfully find ways to reward teachers for their teaching profession and commitment to the teaching profession especially during the World Teachers day celebration,” DepEd Order No. 26 stated.

The benefits may be applied and granted to the teachers who are in service as of September 30.

Not covered by the incentive are teachers who were on absence without leave (AWOL), teachers who are no longer in service as of September 30, those found guilty of any offense from September 30, 2018-September 30 present and those teachers who will be hired after September 30.

The DepEd made clear in the memo that based on the Magna Carta for teachers, the term public school teachers include all those engaged in classroom teaching in any levels.

Also included are guidance counselors, school librarians, industrial and vocational arts teachers and others who perform supervisory and administrative functions.

The incentive is expected to receive not earlier than October 5.
