The school division of the Department of Education (DepEd) in Palawan declared Wednesday morning the suspension of classes in eight northern towns, including some island municipalities.
DepEd Palawan information officer Grace Estefano on a Facebook post said classes have been suspended in Agutaya, Coron, El Nido, San Vicente, Magsaysay, Culion, and Cuyo in all levels.
In Busuanga, the suspension will be from kindergarten to Grade 12.
The suspensions were initially declared by the local chief executives of the towns, Estefano said.
“Classes suspended today due to heavy rain and strong wind, as per declaration by their local chief executives,” she said.
Tropical depression (TD) Falcon has affected most parts of the country and enhanced the southwest monsoon or habagat.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the western side of the country, including Palawan will experience monsoon rains today.
