The number of deaths awaiting COVID-19 test results in Palawan has reached 29, following one fatality reported by the Department of Health on Saturday..

Dr. Mary Ann Navarro, provincial health officer (PHO), said the patient, who had known comorbidity, was from a southern municipality. The patient had been swabbed and was awaiting results.

“[‘Yong patient] matanda, taga-Rizal,” she said.

However, further details were yet to be disclosed as the case is still under investigation.

Palawan is second in the MIMAROPA province of having the highest casualty rate at 10.98 percent, or 29 deaths out of 264 reported cases. Topping the list is Oriental Mindoro at 13.59 percent, 56 deceased patients out of 412 reported cases.

The island province remained to have 67 suspect COVID-19 cases, 17 of whom were admitted in the different hospitals while 50 were under strict home quarantine. (with reports from Celeste Anna Formoso)
