Narra mayor Gerandy Danao’s help is being sought by the Provincial Board to expedite the distribution of a 50-hectare parcel of land in Barangay Antipuluan and Panacan 2 for around 326 households claiming and occupying it.

Board member Ryan Maminta said Danao can intervene on behalf of the households that have been occupying Lot 742-B, Csd-002102-D, but have no security of tenure because their particular lots have not been distributed to them.

The parcel of land in question is one of two that were reserved for municipal high school and national government center purposes under Proclamation No. 275 signed by late president Corazon Aquino in 1988 upon the recommendation of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

Lot 742-B, Csd-002102-D is for national government center, while Lot 742-A, Csd-4A-002102-D is for municipal high school site.

Maminta said Proclamation 275 has been amended by Proclamation No. 574 signed by former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in 2004, which excluded a portion of the land within the national government center site for housing purposes.

He said the claimants in the two barangays have already manifested their interest to care for the land and Danao can help by appealing to President Rodrigo Duterte to expedite its distribution.

“Barangay Antipuluan manifested that there is no objection to release the land to the claimants. They have been occupying the area since 1970. [We] are requesting Mayor Danao to intercede by urging President Duterte to amend Proclamation No. 275 as amended by Proclamation No. 574,” he said.
