Narra Mayor Gerandy Danao, who is facing administrative charges filed by his own Sangguniang Bayan, had words of hurt to his detractors when he spoke at the town’s flag ceremony held in commemoration of the 122nd Philippine Independence Day.
A first-term mayor who won as an independent candidate with no political ally among the town’s SB members, Danao said he was hurt by the action of his detractors in filing administrative cases directly against him.
On May 18, three administrative cases were filed by the municipal council against Danao, for grave misconduct, gross negligence, and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of service. The cases involved alleged procedural lapses in executive decisions performed by Danao, including the granting of a cockpit permit to an individual and late filing of the town’s budget ordinance.
Danao said he did not expect the cases that will be filed against him, stating that none of his councilors had called his attention to his supposed mistakes.
Danao pointed out that SB members Ernesto Ferrer, Jr. who he often sees at Barangay Bato-Bato and Keren Socrates, a resident of Barangay Panacan, the home barangay of Danao as the ones he expected to remind him of the violations he had committed as town’s chief.
Danao said if he made mistakes as alleged by his detractors, he will face its consequences.
Hindi ko tatanggihan yon,” he said.
He also issued a political challenge to them.
Danao lamented that the cases against him were filed while their town was facing the pandemic.
“Hindi po ito pataasan ng ego. Ngayon pang panahon ng COVID na grabe na ang trabaho natin, hndi nga natin maisip kung paano natin malabanan ang sakit na yan,” he said.
