A Culion town official clarified Wednesday that the man found dead on their shores on August 24 was not their assistant municipal engineer but a permanent staff of their planning office.

Culion administrator Maxim Raymundo told Palawan News in a phone interview that the police spot report that named drowning victim Nerio Daganta Palay, 63, as their assistant municipal engineer was erroneous.

“Hindi siya assistant municipal engineer ng munisipyo, he was a permanent staff of the Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO). Ang nag-retrieve po sa kanya ay ang PNP at MDRRMO (Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office),” he said.

Raymundo said they want to correct the information from the police because it was incorrect.

Palay, a resident of Barangay Balala in Culion, was found dead along the shores of Pichiwan, Brgy. Malaking Patag. His identity was disclosed in a spot report sent from the Police Regional Office (PRO) MIMAROPA.
