The local government of Culion placed the whole municipality under a “state of calamity” on Thursday due to heavy rains caused by tropical storm Hanna.

Maxim Raymundo, municipal administrator, said they are now conducting an assessment of the damages brought by the storm.

He said Barangays Galoc, Binudac, Burabod, Halsey, Malaking Patag, Jardin and De Carabao already declared a state of calamity even before the declaration of the municipal government.

He added that the declaration will allow them to use their calamity fund.
