The Coast Guard Station in Puerto Princesa City rescued on Wednesday the crew of a fishing boat that sunk off the coast of Barangay Bancao-Bancao.

Lieutenant Commander Christian Jazmin, spokesperson of the Coast Guard District Palawan (CGDP), said they received a report from locals about fishing boat “Ivy” that had sunk due to apparent damage to its hull, prompting them to deploy a rescue unit.

He said its two crew were rescued to safety, as the entire vessel was beginning to submerge.

He said the crew were provided medical assistance and food before they were brought back to their respective families.
