Coron local government officials are inviting the public to join their annual socio-cultural celebration “10th Kasadyaan Festival” which honors the traditions and life of their people.
Mayor Mario Reyes said “kasadyaan”, which is a Cuyunon term for “happiness”, is a thanksgiving celebration that started on August 5 and will close on August 31.
A Kasadyaan opening parade was held on August 11.

“I enjoin everyone to celebrate the Kasadyaan Festival 2019 with us. Since its beginning and through the years, the festival has always been a major socio-cultural event that is eagerly anticipated and widely participated by Coronians, our friends and neighbors in the Calamianes, and the ever-growing number of local and foreign tourists and visitors,” he said.
Reyes said the event is not only aimed at promoting tourism, but also give thanks to all the blessings the town has received through its patron saint San Agustin.
It is celebrated through cultural presentations, sports events, and other activities.
A dance competition is held during the last day of the festival where barangay teams in Coron will compete against each other.

“Let us endeavor to make this year’s Kasadyaan Festival more special and joyful as we hope to foster even better camaraderie, cooperation and unity among us all,” Reyes said during the opening.
Among the sports events was the taekwondo competition which was won by Price Bryan Abadiano of Barangay Poblacion 5.
