A police corporal of the 401st Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB), Police Regional Office (PRO) in MIMAROPA shot his wife dead, then turned the gun on himself following a heated argument Wednesday morning at the Ramon V. Mitra Sports Complex.
Palawan News sources who cannot be named said P/Cpl. Raymund Cacho shot his wife Karen, a student taking units for a certificate in teaching program at Fullbright College, around 10 a.m. after quarreling.
Raymund also shot another Fullbright College student, Leigh Magbanua, who reportedly witnessed the incident at the grandstand of the sports complex that is only a few meters away from the Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO) Station 2 in Barangay Sta. Monica.

Raymund and Magbanua were both rushed to the nearby Adventist Hospital Palawan for emergency medical treatment, but the suspect died hours later.
Police authorities said they are looking into the possibility that Raymund shot Karen out of “jealousy”.
PPCPO Station 2 personnel who allegedly responded to the scene of the crime heard four gunshots coming from the grandstand. Upon arrival, they saw Raymund and Karen’s bodies lying on the bleachers with gunshot wounds to their heads.
Magbanua, who was also wounded, was discovered not far from them.
Scene of crime operatives (SOCO) who performed forensic procedures in the area found a Beretta 9mm and four empty shells.
Karen’s aunt Manik Labindao said the couple got into a fight Tuesday. After this, Karen left their home and went to her aunt’s house to spend the night.
“Sabi lang ni Karen sinuntok siya ng asawa niya. ‘Yong bata (Karen) natakot na umuwi sa kanila dahil takot na siya na baka saktan siya uli, kaya sa akin natulog,” the aunt said.
“Sinikmuraan siya. Sinuntok na siya, hinila pa raw ‘yong buhok niya,” Labindao added.
Before she was killed, Karen told her aunt that she will go to the sports complex for a group dance practice.
Karen allegedly told her that Raymund would get mad at her every time she fails to update him about her whereabouts.
“Nagpaalam siya sa akin, pupunta raw siya dito (sports complex) para mag-practice sa sayaw ata nila. Mga past seven siya umalis bago mag-eight andito na siya, sabay nga kami umalis ng bahay,” she said.
