A police officer accidentally shot himself and his brother while cleaning his gun at their residence in Purok 3, Barangay Princess Urduja, Narra, Tuesday evening.
In a report sent to Palawan News, the cop was named as P/Cpl. Melvin Castro Rios, 37, presently assigned at the Palawan Provincial Police Office-Drug Enforcement Unit (PPPO-DEU), while his brother was named as Roderick Rios.
According to the investigation, Melvin was cleaning his issued firearm beside his brother Roderick when it accidentally discharged, hitting his temple and his brother’s right jaw.
The victims were rushed to the Narra Municipal hospital but Melvin later died, according to Dr. Jorge Dominic Roldan. Roderick was transferred to the Cooperative Hospital for treatment.
