The Office of the Provincial Election Supervisor for Palawan reminds all winning and losing candidates in the recently concluded May 9 elections to file their Sworn Statements of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) at the respective Comelec offices where they previously filed their candidacies. The Comelec set the deadline for such filing to June 8, 2016.
This reminder is pursuant to Paragraph 6 of Section 14, Republic Act No. 7166 which states that “every candidate and treasurer of the political party shall submit SOCE within thirty (30) days after the day of the election”.
As of press time, Jomel Ordas, designated Information Officer of Provincial Comelec, said that none of the provincial-level candidates has submitted their SOCE.
Ordas warned all candidates that failure to file their SOCE shall constitute an administrative offense, which is liable to a fine of P1,000 to P30,000.
For subsequent offenses the administrative fine shall be from P2,000 to P60,000. Ultimately, the offender shall be subjected to perpetual disqualification to hold public office. The fine shall be paid within thirty 30 days from receipt of notice of such failure; otherwise, it shall be enforceable by a writ of execution issued by the Commission against the properties of the offender.
