The northeast monsoon or “amihan” slightly weakened its effect in the country and cloudy to partly cloudy weather can be expected in the next 24 hours, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday.

PAGASA’s weather forecast said Palawan will experience chances of a thunderstorm and isolated cases of rain showers during the night along with the islands of Visayas.

Based on the analysis of the weather bureau, the wind affecting the large part of Luzon is the extension of high pressure in the east coast of Japan.

Aside from this, she said the effect of the ridge of high pressure is suppressing the formation of clouds which will result in fine weather in mostly the Luzon area.

The province of Palawan will have slight to moderate sea current during the day and the amihan will not intensify until the weekend.
