Over 100 volunteers, including Vice Mayor Nancy Socrates, joined a mud ball throwing activity off the city’s Baywalk on Thursday initiated by the Rotary Club of Puerto Princesa Central and Rotaract Club of Puerto Princesa Central.

The mud ball-throwing event was designed to rehabilitate the coastal waters of the city with the use of effective micro-organisms prepared as mud balls.

The Rotaract and Rotary clubs of Puerto Princesa Cental partnered with the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) and the Philippine Coast Guard 402nd Auxiliary Squadron for the activity.

Ma. Katrina Austria, Rotaract Central President said they do hope that the activity will become an annual event.

“Hopefully, if kaya we can sustain, we would like talaga na yearly kasi Baywalk is really an important part of Puerto Princesa,” she said.
