The city water district apologized for a “breach of protocol” that occurred during the hookup of the distribution line along Caimito Road in Barangay San Jose, causing turbidity in the water on Tuesday night.

Jenn Rausa, information officer of Puerto Princesa City Water District (PPCWD), said it is an isolated case on their part.

She said flushing efforts were not immediately done by the team assigned causing the entry of dirty water in PPCWD’s distribution line along the area.

“One-night lang. Bale ang naging breach doon, sa protocol kasi dapat after mag-interconnect magco-conduct agad ng backwash at flushing, kaso hindi agad nakapag-flushing,” she said.

The affected areas are consumers residing along the streets of Lomboy and Caimito in San Jose.

Rausa explained that the interconnection of the distribution line on August 17 is in line with the rehabilitation projects of the city water district to augment the water supply in the area.

“Iyong interconnection ng distribution line was conducted in line with our rehabilitation projects para mas madagdagan yung water supply sa area. For example, sa ginawa kagabi na interconnection activity, from 4 inches distribution line, pinalitan ng 6 inches. Mas malaking linya na yung nilagay kagabi,” she said.

The PPCWD assured the public that it is working towards the improvement of its services to avoid the same incident from happening again.

The management already called the attention of the involved individuals regarding the matter.
