The City of Puerto Princesa is set to celebrate its tourism month in September, highlighting the role of its tourism industry in providing jobs for its people.

City Tourism Office (CTO) senior operations officer and promotions marketing chief Michie Meneses said Puerto Princesa will celebrate this year’s tourism month with the theme “Tourism and Jobs: A Better Future to All.”

“Itong tourism month is in line sa World Tourism Organization. Idini-declare talaga ang September as World Tourism Month, pero actually World Tourism Day is on September 28. Dito nag-extend tayo na ang buong September ay gawin nating tourism month celebration, “ said Meneses.

The job seekers can apply to different tourism business representatives in the city on September 6 to 8, 13 to 15, and 20 to 22.

These fairs will be in collaboration with different tourism agencies in the city, and will be conducted at different malls in the city.

Meneses noted P1 million was allotted by the City Government for this 30-day celebration.

Aside from its aim to bring closer job opportunities to the people, Meneses said they also prepared entertainment for the public.

Activities for members of the City Tourism Council (CTC) and businesses was also prepared.

She said the grand coronation for “Mr. Tsuperman”, a male pageant for the tourism drivers such as of boats, vans, and buses, will be on September 24.

Meneses said there will be a night market and regular entertainment in front of the City Coliseum.

She said lots of significant activities are still being finalized by the CTO and CTC.

Meneses also invited the public to come and join with them in the celebration.

Guest celebrities from Manila will also be present, she said.

An awards night for tourism players who showed outstanding and exemplary performance in the city will also be conducted on the last night of September.
