Thermal checkpoints were set up Saturday by the city government on barangay borders linking with southern and northern Palawan as part of measures to prevent the entry of COVID-19 in Puerto Princesa.

City information officer Richard Ligad told Palawan News that the manned borders were set up to check the temperatures of travelers going in and out of the city, and not to ban road travels.

“Walang suspension sa biyahe ng van or bus, checkpoints lang ang meron tayo na magmo-monitor ng temperature,” he said.

The thermal checkpoints are located in Barangay San Rafael for travelers going north and Barangay Inagawan for those going to southern Palawan.

Ligad reiterated that the checkpoints are part of the precautionary measures against the spread of COVID-19. // Photo courtesy of Richard Ligad.
