The city police office is intent on the filing of a murder case against a man who had committed suicide after he shot dead his own wife Wednesday at the grandstand of the RVM Sports Complex.
Police Colonel Marion Balonglong said Thursday in a joint media conference with Anti-Crime Task Force (ACTF) chief Richard Ligad at the City Hall that they are also continuing their probe on the incident to answer questions from the families of the couple Raymund and Karen Cacho.
“The purpose of this investigation is para maliwanagan tayong lahat, kung ano ba ang totoong pangyayari o kung ito ba ay rampant o ordinaryong nangyayari sa Puerto Princesa City or is this a special case,” he said.
Balonglong said it will be up to the court to dismiss the case outright.
“We will continue the investigation magpa-file pa din tayo ng kaso sa suspek at naka-depende sa court kung tatanggapin pa niya ang kaso,” he said.
Balonglong said Raymund, a patrolman belonging to the 401st Regional Mobile Force Battalion, shot his wife Karen after an argument.
Friends close to the couple reportedly said the two had quarreled before the incident at the sports complex on the morning of October 23.
“According to the interview doon sa mga witnesses and friends who were close doon sa mag-asawa, ang problema ay between Patrolman Cacho and sa kanyang asawa na si Karen Cacho. Walang ibang problemang nakikita or ibang motibo, kundi problema lang talaga nga ng mag-asawa ang cause ng pamamaril. Nagkataon lang na doon ito nangyari sa RVM Sports Complex,” he said.
Karen died on the spot while Raymund was still alive when authorities arrived at the scene. He died later at the hospital.
