The Puerto Princesa government this week opened the month-long celebration of “Tourism Month” at the grounds of the City Coliseum, highlighting different locally-made products and tourism-related activities.
Mayor Lucilo Bayron and other city government officials and leaders led the opening event on September 3.
Bayron said the annual celebration provides the tourism industry with the opportunity for a heightened focus on its importance to the local economy.
It also aims to encourage residents to get a better understanding of the affordable, exciting, and beautiful tourist attractions that are available on their own doorstep, he said.
During the opening ceremony, Bayron also announced that they will be pushing the establishment of more tourism destinations in the city, including the improvement of some man-made parks such as the City Coliseum’s.
“Ang pagpu-push ng isang tourism destination ay parang restaurant na hindi lang dalawa ang menu, dapat marami para mas ma-attract ang mga turista. Marami tayong plano noon pa at unti-unti natin ‘yong maisasakatuparan. Marami tayong proposals para mapaunlad at mapaganda pa ang lungsod,” he said.
The celebration, which opened with a motorcade and a drum and lyre parade will run until September 30.
