Puerto Princesa City has imposed a face mask policy on all individuals going outside their homes during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period.

Mayor Lucilo Bayron, in Executive Order (EO) No. 2020-17 issued on Monday, said that violators, who are of legal age, will be “recommended for prosecution”.

“All persons shall wear face masks, ear-loop masks, indigenous, reusable, or do-it-yourself masks, face shields, handkerchiefs, or other similar protective equipment whenever allowed to go outside to buy essential items, go to work or do allowable tasks,” he said.

The executive order, which takes effect during the ECQ period, also covered those who were given exemptions on the ECQ guidelines including the uniformed personnel, medical staff, and other workers considered as frontliners.

There was still no scientific evidence that the deadly coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is airborne, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

There were 15 persons under investigation (PUI) in Puerto Princesa, all of whom were under strict home quarantine, as of 4 p.m. Monday (April 6).
