The Puerto Princesa City government has launched the 3rd “Trash for Treasure” Christmas decoration contest at the City Hall complex.

Oplan Linis program manager and special events officer Andrew Manlawe on Tuesday said that six City Hall teams are competing for this year’s “Christmas Carnival” themed decoration contest which will use recycled materials.

“The primary goal of this event is to decongest the Puerto Princesa City Baywalk. It will be opened for public para ‘yong mga malalayong barangays may mapuntahan na malapit,” Manlawe said.

The holiday competition started on November 2 and will end on November 21 where the winners will be announced on Monday, November 25.

“Plano ni mayor Bayron na taasan ‘yong prize. Wala pang exact figure but the budget will come from the Special Events program,” he said.

Six teams were categorized based on each building floor office occupants and are expected to use “recyclables and recycled” materials for their decorations. The designs will be judged based on the following criteria: 50 percent for set-up and another 50 percent for the use of recycled materials.

The judging of the decorations will be conducted on November 22.
