The City Council will summon officials of the Puerto Princesa City Water District (PPCWD) to its session next week to report on the status of its cloud seeding operations and its pending development plans.
Councilor Roy Ventura on Monday said that he wants to know from the PPCWD the results of its efforts to increase the water level and pressure at its Campo Uno watershed through cloud seeding.
The water agency has set aside P2.2 million for a 40-day cloudseeding operation in Brgy. Irawan after declaring water alert level 3 over most of the city and implementing water rationing.
The city has also declared a state of calamity.
Ventura also said that he has received reports that the PPCWD is also having difficulty in securing a SEP clearance from the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) to obtain its own “water rights” on the Lapu-Lapu and Montible rivers for its expansion project.
The water district has been seeking access to two rivers located within the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF), Barangay Iwahig as its additional source of water supply.
