Investors to build tourism convention center sought

Investors to build tourism convention center sought the City government is seeking to partner with an investor that would help build its planned Tourism Convention Center.

City Tourism Officer Aileen Cynthia Amurao said this convention center aims to cater to the demand for a venue of meetings, conferences, conventions, and exhibitions.

“As we observe, there are so many conventions being held in Puerto Princesa City and, with that, Mayor Lucilo Bayron wants to prioritize building such a convention center,” she told Palawan News on Friday.

Presently, she noted the City Coliseum can host these big gatherings but “it is not designed for that.”

Amurao said the Tourism Convention Center is included in the City’s 10-year tourism plan. It has room accommodations and its hall can hold up to 15,000 people at a time.

“That’s why we’re intensive investment promotions to invite our investors to really invest in tourism facilities like this,” she added.

As it is proposed to be put up just beside the cruise ship port at the Quito area, Amurao said there is also a plan to relocate to Barangay Irawan those informal settlers occupying that area.
