Jeane Gingoyon, a 14-year old softball player of Cebu City was rushed to the hospital Monday night for monitoring due to suspected dengue fever.

A 14-year-old Cebu City softball player competing in the Batang Pinoy 2019 national championships was confined at the Ospital ng Palawan (ONP) on Monday night for monitoring due to suspected dengue.

In an interview Wednesday, Jackson Genolaga, guardian of the Cebu City delegates said the young athlete, Jeane Gingoyon, already had high temperature before their arrival in Puerto Princesa City on the night of August 24.

He said that Gingoyon was rushed to the ONP around 9 p.m. on August 26.

“Three days ang biyahe namin sa barko from Cebu to Manila, then Manila to Coron, and Coron to Puerto Princesa City.

Genolaga said that the hospital has not confirmed yet if the athlete has been diagnosed with dengue, but noted a decline in her blood platelet count.

Genolaga said Gingoyon will no longer be able to participate in the softball competition as it is already the third day of the Batang Pinoy.

Officials of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the city government also visited Gingoyon at the hospital.
