Community-Based Sustainable Tourism (CBST) operators and seaweed producers in Puerto Princesa City recently attended a training on digital marketing to upgrade their business skills.
Ma. Cecilia Isubal, city program coordinator of the Strenghtening Urban Resilience for Growth with Equity (SURGE) program under the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), said Friday the digital marketing training will expose the CBST operators and seaweed producers to micro-entrepreneurs engaged in tourism and fisheries in the city, as well as new technologies that will help boost their businesses.
Isubal said they made sure that the CBST operators and seaweeds producers are provided with slots in the digital marketing training that will hone their capabilities as micro-entrepreneurs.
The 12 slots were given to four seaweed producers, and the rest to eight representatives from the city’s CBST groups like Babuyan Twin Sandbars Association, Sabang Seafarers, Sabang Mangrove, Sandiwa CBST, Ugong Rock, Iwahig Firefly, Bacungan Mangroves, and Barangay Buenavista.
“Ito ay tutulong at magbibigay ng leverage sa ating mga stakeholders na engage sa tourism at sa seaweeds production. Ito yung mga prime industries ng city,” Isubal said.
She said SURGE in partnership with the city government of Puerto Princesa and other partners will hold an investment workshop on October 22-23, 2018.
“Go na yan, mag-participate nyan ang mga businessmen, ang business sector both sa province at ng city. We have coordinated with the chambers of commerce and industries ng Palawan chamber and also Puerto Princesa chamber,” she said.
SURGE is a USAID flagship program under the Cities Development Initiative (CDI).
The training was conducted by Bayan Academy, Boost your Business and Facebook on October 5, 2018, at Hotel Centro.
