CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – The Department of Agriculture-Mimaropa through the City Agriculture Office distributed carabaos, dairy buffaloes and “binhi” or rice seed to farmers in the city on November 13.

The recipients were among the deserving farmer-beneficiaries identified by city agriculturists, mostly affected by the onslaught of typhoon “Usman” in January.

More than 1,000 farmers were allotted rice seeds or “binhi” anchored on Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Seed Component, initiated by Philippine Rice Research Institute (PRRI), DA Mimaropa, through the assistance of City Agricultural Services Department (CASD) of City Agriculture Office.

The distribution of rice seed was held on November 12-13 at the Calapan City Agricultural Demonstration Center (CCADC) in Barangay Biga. (LC/PIAMimaropa).
