Palawan Governor Jose Alvarez said Saturday that the provincial government will not be holding the “Baragatan” festival this year, citing lack of time for planning and preparation.

The annual month-long celebration would have marked the 117th Founding Anniversary of the Civil Government of the province.

Next year na lang,” Governor Alvarez said.

Baragatan is a Cuyunon term that means “to converge” to celebrate the occasion through the holding of an agro-trade fair, cultural presentations, arts and photo exhibits, float parade, street dancing, food fair, and other activities.

In 2016, there was also no Baragatan because of the elections.
