The National Power Corporation’s (NAPOCOR) downed transmission lines has cut off the power service in Brooke’s Point town.

In a statement, the Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO) early Tuesday said affected by NAPOCOR’s downed 69kV (kilovolt) transmission line are parts of Narra, Brooke’s Point, Bataraza and Sofronio Española.

Clarina Herrera-Guludah, PALECO spokesperson, said that NAPOCOR will continue to run line inspections today but refused to comment any further since it is out of their scope.

Earlier this month, Brooke’s Point municipality faced a four-day power outage prompting its local government unit (LGU) to demand standby generators from its power provider, the DMCI Powers.

Vice mayor Georjalyn Joy Quiachon-Abarca, on an earlier statement to Palawan News, confirmed that the Sangguniang Bayan has already passed a resolution about the matter concerned. However, according to some local residents, DMCI is still unable to comply with the said demand from the LGU.

As of press time, Palawan News is unable to get a statement from DMCI despite multiple attempts for an interview.
