A 28-year old British-Israel national was found dead Monday morning in his bed and breakfast pension house room along BM Road, Barangay San Pedro, a police report said.
He was identified by the Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO) Station 1 as Ben Guy who temporarily resided at Larmar Bed and Breakfast Pension House where he was also found dead.
The spot report said that at about 7:45 a.m., Rachel Lardino, the daughter of the pension house owner, called them and reported the incident.
Lardino reportedly sent out Marilyn Serenso, the pension house receptionist, to wake up Guy for his breakfast but he did not respond.
“Having elicited no response from her calls at the door of the room, the receptionist peeped through an open window and saw the unresponsive body of the victim lying on top of his bed,” the police report further stated.
It said another staff of the bed and breakfast also called the Kilos Agad Action Center (KAAC) to ask for help. It responded and confirmed that the foreign national was already dead “as his body was already stiff and cold.”
PPCPO Station 1 on-case investigator PO2 John Rey Halog then “proceeded to the area and initiated contact with the British Embassy and requested crime scene investigation from the City Crime Laboratory Office (CCLO).”
Meanwhile, Insp. Rey Aron Elona, spokesperson of the PPCPO Station 1, said in a separate interview that there appears to be no foul play in Guy’s death because his belongings were all “intact.”
However, he said they will be conducting a follow-up investigation regarding the case to determine the cause of his death.
“Wala namang nakikitang foul play ang ating scene of crime operatives (SOCO), pero hindi pa rin natin inaalis ang mga ganoong posibilidad. Intact naman ang mga gamit ni Ben. Isa rin sa mga nakikita natin ay natural death ang naging dahilan ng kamatayan kasi makikita naman sa katawan ng biktima,” Elona said.
(Our SOCO did not see any foul play, but we can’t remove possibilities. Ben’s belongings were all intact. One thing we’re seeing was that it was due to natural death because you can see it in his health.)
Photos taken by the police showed Guy’s frail body lying on the bed.
