BM Acosta urges co-legislators to take drug test

Board member Ponce de Leon wants provincial IT unit to create a computer app for boarding house seekers

In today’s session of the Provincial Board, First District Board Member Cherry Pie Acosta urged her co-legislators to take a drug test as a means to set a good example among Palaweños.

Acosta made her suggestion during the legislators’ discussion of Board Member Roseller Pineda’s proposed resolution that will require all public transport operators/owners and drivers in Palawan to undergo a drug test.

Acosta sees it as only proper that the legislators themselves should undergo drug testing, after the fact that they are the ones pushing for the resolution in the first place. “Baka sabihin ng mga driver, eh sila ba nagpasa sila ng ganyang resolusyon, sila ba nagpa undergo na ng drug test?” Acosta commented.

However, Vice-Governor Victorino Dennis Sorates decided to relegate the discussion of Acosta’s suggestion under the ‘other matters’ agenda of the session; there was no further discussion of the topic during the remaining session hours.

In a later interview with Palawan News, BM Acosta admitted she was somehow “aggresive” when she raised the issue. “Sa tingin ko naman, sa casual na usapan, they are willing, pero ‘yun nga voluntary gusto natin, but we have to respect the decision ng ating mga kasamahan,” she added.
