Incumbent Puerto Princesa City mayor Lucilo Bayron confirmed Monday that he will be the one running for mayor in the 2019 elections as he requested employees of the City Hall to support him and the Kuridas team.
In his speech during the first flag ceremony of the new year, Bayron said his candidacy is already official because his daughter Judith “Raine” Bayron had already backed out of the mayoralty race.
Alam na niyo ‘yong ibig kong sabihin (This is now official because Raine already backed out. I am asking for all your support. Like what’s been said, ‘waste time, but not the opportunity’. I also request for your support to the Kuridas team. I know you know what I’m saying),” he said.
Bayron further stated that he already received the final clearance from his doctor regarding his good health in December last year.
He said Judith decided to drop out of the mayoralty race early to prevent future problems.
Ayun, talo silang dalawa,” Bayron said.
(I was given the clearance by my doctor, and I’ve already announced to other groups that I am now the candidate… Raine already withdrew… so we won’t be confused in our ballots. We don’t want to suffer the same case as Ejercito. You know what happened to ER Ejercito in Laguna? He and his son both filed certificates of candidacy but the son did not withdraw early; it was too late to remove his name from the ballot. They both lost.)
