The administration party controlling the city government said Tuesday they are holding no grudge against former ally and Councilor Peter Maristela, who recently announced his decision to leave the majority bloc.
“Iginagalang natin ang kanyang desisyon. Kung ‘yan ang gusto nya, kung yan ang paniniwala nya. Hindi naman pipigilan. Tayo ay meron namang kanya-kanyang desisyon at wala tayong magagawa,” city spokesperson Richard Ligad said.
“As long as wala siyang masamang sinasabi, at hindi naman rin sya pinaalis,” he added.
Maristela announced his decision to media on Monday but gave no reason for it, stating he will make an explanation next week.
Ligad said as early as December 2017, they have already observed Maristela becoming critical of the administration.
“December pa lang ay may problema na yata sya, eh. Napansin namin ‘yong speech n’ya noong nakaraan,” he said.
He also said Maristela’s departure from their group will not make a dent on their “kuridas” team.
