Around 231 tanod from 17 barangays of Aborlan have availed the Barangay Tanod Association (BATAS) Accident Insurance Card under the office of 3rd district representative Gil Acosta Jr.

BATAS provides burial insurance, expense benefit, medical reimbursement and permanent disability benefit.

Sila ang may pinakamalaking papel sa barangay bilang police barangay,” barangay kagawad Michael Candelario of Isaub said.

BATAS program coordinator Arlyn Escala explained that the insurance aims to provide financial assistance to barangay tanods who may get into accidents while on duty.

Escala said that the project is in coordination with Malayan Insurance.

Meanwhile, the project was recently launched in barangays Langogan, Binduyan, Concepcion, Tanabag, San Rafael, Babuyan, Lucbuan, Maoyon, and Maryugon.

“Malaking tulong ‘yan syempre, kasi kung magkaroon ng disgrasya (lalo) kung nakaduty may insurance na kami,” Dany Puno Sr., Chief Tanod of Magsaysay said.
